Golden Ten Data reported on July 12 that, according to Yonhap News Agency, industry sources revealed on Sunday that Samsung Electronics is pushing forward the production timeline of the first semiconductor plant in its Yongin chip cluster to 2029, advancing the schedule by one to two years compared to the original plan. “Launching the first plant ahead of schedule will allow Samsung to respond more swiftly to the rapidly growing global demand for artificial intelligence chips,” said an industry official. In addition, Samsung stated last month that according to its super project investment plan, it intends to invest 20.3 trillion won (approximately $135 billion) in the Pyeongtaek and Yongin semiconductor clusters, and invest 40 trillion won to build two new chip factories in Gwangju, 270 kilometers south of Seoul.
