The floating loss of South Korea's individual stock leveraged ETF expanded by more than 8.8 trillion won in nine days.
Odaily reported that the South Korean domestic stock market has experienced sharp fluctuations over the past nine trading days, with leveraged ETFs based on individual stocks, which are favored by retail investors, seeing cumulative valuation losses exceeding 8.8 trillion KRW. According to data released by FnGuide Quantwise and Mirae Asset Securities on the 15th, four leveraged ETFs issued by Mirae Asset Global Investments and Samsung Asset Management, tracking Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, recorded a cumulative valuation loss of 8.8337 trillion KRW from July 1st to 13th.
During the same period, the assets under management of these ETFs dropped from 14.3518 trillion KRW to 8.9389 trillion KRW, shrinking by 37.7%. All 14 leveraged ETFs listed in South Korea that track Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix also saw their assets under management decrease by 41.4% over the same period, falling from 15.9349 trillion KRW at the end of June to 9.3386 trillion KRW by July 13th. Among them, the asset size of Samsung Electronics leveraged ETFs decreased by 35.3%, while SK Hynix leveraged ETFs decreased by 44.9%.
