Golden Ten Data reported on July 16 that South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ahn Duk-geun, pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI), regional development, and the industrial ecosystem are the key battlegrounds for South Korea’s economy to escape the brink of a “zero growth” crisis. He emphasized that business leaders must join forces to address these challenges while expanding into global markets. He stated: “The era of surviving on free trade and exports is fading, and ‘every man for himself’ and ‘survival of the fittest’ have become the norm.” He added: “In such turbulent times, if we cannot remain highly vigilant, the ranking of companies, industries, and even the nation itself may change.” Regarding artificial intelligence, which is identified as a primary battleground, Ahn Duk-geun expressed caution towards the current semiconductor boom, and stressed the importance of being prepared for potential challenges. He noted: “Most companies outside the semiconductor market are struggling, but thanks to the chip industry, society as a whole is under the illusion of prosperity.”
