International Energy Agency: Global energy security may face “red alert” in the coming weeks

Glonghui, July 17 – International Energy Agency Director Fatih Birol warned on the 16th that if oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be restored within weeks, global energy security will be in serious jeopardy. He stated that some of the measures taken by certain countries "cannot continue indefinitely"; even if the United States significantly increases oil production, it would still be far from enough to make up for the supply shortfall caused by the obstruction of the Strait of Hormuz.
