U.S. House Speaker Johnson: The U.S.-Iran war needs to end, room should be left for negotiations. According to reports, U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson did not give a clear response on Tuesday when asked whether he would push for a vote related to the War Powers Act, but stated that the U.S.-Iran war needs to end and that the U.S. should also gain support from other parties to promote an end to the war. Johnson stated that he believes politicians should "leave room for the government" to seek a negotiated end to the war. He said, "I know the current government is working around the clock to seek a solution that can avoid further U.S. military casualties." However, Johnson reiterated that the U.S. must ensure Iran does not possess nuclear weapons.
Korean Media: Wealthy investors have recently bought single-stock leveraged ETFs for Samsung and SK Hynix. High-net-worth individuals with more than 10 billion won in financial assets are also actively buying leveraged ETFs linked to Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. Among retail investors, those in their 40s bought the largest scale of single-stock leveraged ETFs for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The Seoul Economic Daily commissioned a large brokerage firm to analyze the portfolios of 25,000 high-net-worth individuals from May 27 to July 10 this year. The analysis showed that three of the top five most net-bought targets were single-stock leveraged ETFs for Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. They made net purchases of 178.1 billion won for the "KODEX SK Hynix single-stock leveraged ETF" and 140.1 billion won for the "TIGER SK Hynix single-stock leveraged ETF," as well as 116.6 billion won for the "KODEX Samsung Electronics single-stock leveraged ETF." Given that the remaining two among the top five targets were also ordinary shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, this indicates that wealthy investors have adopted a heavy-betting strategy on the two Korean stock market giants.
CIBC: Trump’s new tariffs mark the start of tough USMCA negotiations. Analysts at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce stated that the latest tariff threats from U.S. President Trump against Canada mark the beginning of tough negotiations on the North American trade agreement. The White House announced on Monday that it will impose a 50% tariff on some Canadian goods, citing Canada’s unfair treatment of U.S. alcoholic beverages, automobiles, and dairy products. The new tariffs are scheduled to take effect in 30 days, just as parties begin discussing the future of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which was signed during Trump’s first presidential term. CIBC analysts said the selection of products affected by these tariffs is “largely political.” The bank noted that the U.S. government is taking action under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, which allows the president to impose tariffs of up to 50% on countries deemed to be discriminating against U.S. commerce.

Apple to collaborate with Klarna to launch “Upgrade” device leasing program to boost sales. Apple (AAPL.US) plans to launch a leasing program called "Upgrade," which will be one of the most significant changes to its device sales model in the company’s history. According to sources, the service is expected to launch on July 28, initially in the U.S. market, supporting most iPhone, Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch models. Apple will collaborate with the Klarna Group, which will provide financial support for the program. The plan will first launch in the U.S. and will be available both at Apple’s physical retail stores and online platforms. The service will adopt a subscription-like model, allowing users to prepay device fees during the lease period, upgrade to newer products early, or retain the device after the lease ends. In some cases, early transactions may require an additional fee. Similar to car leasing, users may also return the device at the end of the lease period. iPhone and Apple Watch have a 24-month lease period, while Mac and iPad have a 36-month period.
