According to a report by S&P Global, shipping insurance costs in the Strait of Hormuz have surged as a new round of tanker attacks has made underwriters increasingly reluctant to provide coverage. Additional war risk premiums have risen from 1%-3% of vessel hull value a few weeks ago to 7.5%-10% currently, while some tanker operators are staying outside the Strait and are unwilling to risk passage.
