Foresight News reports, according to the Financial Times, that after three years of cracking down on crypto tax evasion, HM Revenue & Customs in the UK has recovered over £8 million in taxes through settlements with hundreds of crypto investors. Data obtained through a Freedom of Information request shows that in the past two years, 502 crypto investors have reached voluntary disclosure settlement agreements with the UK tax authorities regarding unpaid taxes.

In the 2024/25 tax year, 280 people reached settlements with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), with total payments amounting to £3.5 million. In the 2025/26 tax year, the number of settlements dropped to 222, but the total amount increased to around £4.8 million.
