Odaily reported that, according to monitoring by Hyperinsight, during the sharp surge in oil prices last night and early this morning, trader "Loracle" experienced two system liquidations, totaling approximately 106,500 WTI short contracts liquidated at an average transaction price of around $92.3, with a total value of about $9.8312 million. The two liquidations together resulted in a loss of about $681,200, plus fees of $786, marking the largest liquidation across the network within 24 hours.

Only about 12 minutes after the liquidation, the trader restarted shorting. As of the time of reporting, he is holding 27,700 WTI short contracts using 3x isolated margin, with an average entry price of $92.2. The position value is about $2.547 million, with a liquidation price of $155.05; unrealized profit is approximately $14,400, resulting in a return rate of about 1.68%. The current position is only about one-quarter the size of the position before the liquidation.

At the same time, 19 additional sell orders between $93.4 and $95.2 have been placed, intending to increase the short position by another 15,000 contracts, with an order value of approximately $1.425 million, awaiting to build further shorts on a rebound. If all are filled, the WTI short position will rise to 42,874.228 contracts, with a nominal size of about $3.9725 million.

On the news front, Yemen’s Houthi forces announced an attack on two Saudi oil tankers, prompting the market to begin pricing in the risk of both the Red Sea and Hormuz Strait shipping routes being blocked. Trump subsequently stated he is considering resuming large-scale military action against Iran. WTI crude oil climbed as high as $93.
