  1. The monthly survey released by the European Central Bank on Friday showed that eurozone consumers’ inflation expectations for the next year dropped significantly to 3% in June, down from 3.5% in May. The three-year inflation expectation, which is more important for monetary policy, decreased from 2.9% to 2.8%.
  2. The survey was conducted from June 4 to 29, when the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding after agreeing on a ceasefire, and the Middle East conflict had not yet escalated again to cause a surge in oil prices. However, the ceasefire did not hold, and both sides resumed conflict this month. The day before the data release, the European Central Bank decided to keep interest rates unchanged, and President Lagarde laid the groundwork for a possible rate hike in September.
