- Next week, the market will face three major policy decisions from the Federal Reserve, Bank of England, and Bank of Japan. This coincides with the release of intensive data including US Q2 GDP, June PCE inflation, Eurozone Q2 GDP, and July CPI, significantly increasing volatility risks.
- The Federal Reserve is expected to keep interest rates unchanged at 3.50%–3.75% on Wednesday. However, oil prices have surged nearly 30% this month, reigniting inflation concerns. The market has priced in about 44 basis points of tightening by year-end. Chair Walsh's press conference will be a key moment for assessing the future policy path.
- The Bank of Japan is expected to keep its key rate unchanged at 1% on Friday. Nevertheless, the ongoing yen depreciation and rising household inflation expectations are reinforcing the case for further rate hikes. The bank's quarterly outlook report and the Governor's press conference will reveal the latest internal assessment of the exit pace from easing policies.
- The Bank of England is also expected to hold steady at 3.75% on Thursday. However, inflation and debt concerns triggered by the new Prime Minister's fiscal spending plan have led the market to price in expectations of a rate hike before November. Voting splits and the Monetary Policy Report will be the main focus.
- On the data front, the US will publish major indicators including June durable goods orders, July consumer confidence, Q2 GDP preliminary reading, June PCE, and personal income and spending data. The Eurozone will see Q2 GDP preliminary figures, July economic sentiment, and HICP preliminary reading. China's official July PMI and Australia's Q2 CPI will also be released in succession, further clarifying the global growth and inflation outlook.
