⑴ The Bloomberg Commodity Index closed at 134.846 points on Friday, down 1.423 points with a decline of 1.04%. Intraday volatility ranged from 134.713 to 136.236, with an opening price of 135.965, showing a pattern of opening high and moving lower throughout the day.⑵ The energy sector was the main drag, as Brent crude oil briefly broke above $100 before encountering profit-taking, dropping more than 3% in a single day. The strong rally that lasted several weeks had accumulated considerable profit-taking pressure.⑶ The grain market weakened simultaneously, with Chicago wheat futures plunging over 6% due to rumors of a Ukrainian shipping security proposal. Corn and soybeans also retreated from multi-month highs as funds concentrated on cashing in profits ahead of the weekend.⑷ Despite the significant single-day pullback, the Bloomberg Commodity Index may still record a notable gain for the week overall. Structural factors such as Middle East geopolitical risks, Red Sea shipping disruptions, and concerns over Black Sea grain supplies have not abated, and the short-term adjustment reflects more technical pressure than a fundamental reversal.
