Video | AMD CEO Lisa Su: AI chip market will reach $1.4 trillion by 2030
On July 23, AMD CEO Lisa Su stated at the Advancing AI 2026 conference that as the industry accelerates towards AGI, the growth rate of the AI chip market has already far exceeded previous expectations.
Last year, AMD predicted that the AI chip market would reach $500 billion by 2028, but now, this figure still appears too conservative. Lisa Su expects that by 2030, the global AI chip market will grow to about $1.4 trillion, a scale close to that of today’s entire semiconductor market.
In her view, better models will lead to more usage, which in turn will continue driving demand for computing power. Although AI chips will take various forms in the future, since algorithms and workloads are still changing rapidly, GPUs with stronger programmability are expected to continue to hold the majority market share.
