Since 2019, the medium- to long-term performance of new IPOs has generally underperformed the broader market.
Odaily reported that GSR Head of Strategic Communications Frank Chaparro posted a statistical chart from Apollo Global Management on X regarding IPO investment returns. The chart shows the market-adjusted average return rate of U.S. IPO stocks within three years of listing from 1980 to 2024. The results indicate that IPO stocks generally underperform the market in the medium to long term after listing, with this phenomenon being especially pronounced from 2019 to 2024.
Frank Chaparro commented: "Since 2019, participating in IPOs has consistently been a losing bet."
