Fortune: Trump administration holds $26.7 billion in corporate equity, lacks unified disclosure mechanism

Fortune magazine’s analysis points out that the Trump administration made approximately $26.7 billion in investments through 30 transactions, involving companies such as Intel, MP Materials, and U.S. Steel. However, these holdings are distributed among the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, and the Department of Energy, and lack a unified disclosure and supervision mechanism. Among them, the Department of Commerce’s 9.9% stake in Intel represents the largest single investment. White House National Economic Council Director Hassett stated that these equity holdings serve as an initial payment for the United States to establish a sovereign wealth fund.
