KB Financial Group establishes a 150 billion KRW fund dedicated to investing in cutting-edge industries such as AI, semiconductors, and robotics
ChainCatcher reports that KB Financial Group has announced the establishment of the “KB National Growth Unicorn Scale-up Fund” with a size of 150 billion won (approximately 108 million US dollars), which will be fully funded by the group’s subsidiaries’ own capital and managed by KB Securities PE Growth Investment Headquarters. The fund will focus its investments in sectors including AI, semiconductors, secondary batteries, aerospace, mobility, robotics, and biotechnology, aiming to cultivate unicorn companies in cutting-edge strategic industries.
This decision was finalized at the 4th Productive Finance Consultation Meeting held on July 24. At the same time, KB Financial has developed a financial support plan in conjunction with the government’s “Three Major Super Projects,” covering investments in semiconductors, power infrastructure, and support for physical AI enterprises and AI data centers. KB Financial plans to utilize the CIB Center to identify innovative local SMEs and promote a shift in enterprise evaluation culture from traditional financial statements and historical performance towards an assessment system based on technical capabilities and future growth potential.
