SK Hynix plans to build its headquarters next to Samsung Town in Gangnam, with Chairman Chey Tae-won ordering the new building to be “5 meters taller than Samsung's.”

Glonghui July 27｜According to Korea's "Asia Economy," SK Group is currently advancing the acquisition and development of the former Lemeridien Hotel site in Seoul's Gangnam district. The group is planning to build the headquarters building for SK Hynix at this location. This site is only about 1 kilometer from Gangnam Station on Subway Line 2, where several headquarters buildings of Samsung Group, including Samsung Electronics, are concentrated. Reportedly, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has personally issued a special order that the building "must be 5 meters taller than Samsung Group's headquarters building." Analysts believe that establishing such a highly symbolic headquarters building right next to "Samsung Town" fully demonstrates SK Hynix’s confidence, having now grown into a company capable of competing with Samsung Electronics in the global semiconductor market.
