Empery (EMPY.US) sells $87 million in BTC and shifts focus to AI, betting big on data centers
Signing a formal lease is not only key to business expansion, but also a core indicator for evaluating whether this model can generate excess returns off the balance sheet.
According to Woofun AI, Empery Digital (EMPY.US) has undergone a fundamental strategic shift, transitioning from solely holding Bitcoin to focusing on artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company has completed a significant capital injection into Cardinal Data Power.
The core of this capital allocation shift lies in Empery (EMPY.US) discontinuing the use of its previous asset management dashboard as of June 30, citing that net asset value (NAV) calculations based solely on Bitcoin holdings have become distorted. Compiled data from Woofun AI shows the company has executed a $20 million preferred stock investment, marking a restructuring of its valuation system.
As of July 10, Empery (EMPY.US) holds 1,514 BTC on its balance sheet, with cash reserves of approximately $73.9 million, while carrying $45 million in outstanding debt. A document submitted on July 23 highlights potential risks: if the pending $62.1 million asset acquisition is terminated, only $400,000 can be recovered, and the remaining funds and anticipated tenant income face significant uncertainty.
The ultimate success of the strategic transformation will depend on the completion of asset acquisitions in the Midwest. Signing formal lease agreements is not only key to business expansion, but also a core indicator of whether this model can generate excess returns outside the balance sheet.
