Zama updates its fully homomorphic encryption library, enabling privacy transactions with a throughput of over one thousand per second
Foresight News reports that privacy computation protocol Zama stated that its fully homomorphic encryption open-source library TFHE-rs v1.7 achieved a throughput of 1,080 transactions per second in the ERC-7984 privacy transfer benchmark test on a single node equipped with 8 NVIDIA H100 GPUs. This represents approximately a 2.7x improvement over the previous version's 400 transactions per second, with latency maintained at 50.9 milliseconds. The performance has reached the roadmap's expectations over a year ahead of schedule. According to Zama, the current performance bottleneck for privacy transfers is no longer the cryptographic computation itself, but rather the consensus and block production speed at the blockchain base layer.
ERC-7984 is the privacy version of ERC-20, supporting token transfers with balances and transfer amounts fully encrypted throughout the process.
