More Than Three Dissents at Fed Meeting Could Indicate Move Toward September Rate Hike -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/07/28 07:320732 GMT - The number of dissents at this week's Fed meeting will be watched as an indication of the range of views within the FOMC, says T. Rowe Price. The expectation is for a 10-2 vote, with Logan and Hammack dissenting in favor of a 25bp hike, says Chief U.S. Economist Blerina Uruci, in a note. More than three dissents would be a clearer sign that the committee is moving toward a September hike, even if it remains on hold in July, Uruci says. The economist's baseline forecast is for the FOMC to stay on hold over the next 12 months. "I also believe that Warsh is not as ready to hike in September as current market pricing suggests," she says. (monica.gupta@wsj.com)
