Perception of Job Availability Weakens -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/07/28 15:191119 ET - Overall, consumers' views of the labor market continued to soften in July, according to The Conference Board. Oxford Economics says that while other labor market conditions have improved, the depressed hiring rate has caused consumers' perception of job availability to deteriorate. "Although we don't anticipate a strong rebound in hiring this year, slower labor-force growth due to reduced immigration and an aging population will keep the unemployment rate stable," Oxford Economics wrote.
