US Stocks Move: AbbVie Rises Nearly 2% Pre-market as Major Drug Receives Two New Indications

Gelonghui, July 29|AbbVie rose nearly 2% in pre-market trading, at $267.5. AbbVie announced today that the European Commission has approved upadacitinib for two new indications: 1. Treatment of severe alopecia areata in adults and adolescents; 2. Treatment of non-segmental vitiligo in adults and adolescents. AbbVie has already submitted applications for the same indications in China and the United States, which are currently under review. Upadacitinib is a selective JAK inhibitor, already approved globally for indications such as atopic dermatitis, psoriatic arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease. In 2025, global sales of this product are expected to reach $8.304 billion. Upadacitinib is the first JAK inhibitor to achieve complete scalp hair regrowth compared to placebo at week 24.
