Serenity: GlobalFoundries receives support from the US CHIPS Act, benefiting Sivers and Lumentum
BlockBeats News, July 30, Serenity stated in a post that the US government will acquire a 1% stake in GlobalFoundries (GFS) and provide $300 million in funding according to the CHIPS Act, to accelerate research and development of Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) and silicon photonics technology. Serenity believes this move benefits Sivers Semiconductors (SIVE) and Lumentum (LITE).
Serenity pointed out that this round of CHIPS Act funding is clearly focused on the CPO and silicon photonics sectors, and among GlobalFoundries’ previous presentation materials, only Sivers and Lumentum—both listed laser suppliers—were explicitly named.
Meanwhile, Sivers' laser arrays have recently been included in the CPO reference design on GlobalFoundries’ SCALE platform. Serenity believes that the US government is accelerating the advancement of its domestic CPO industry chain, and that this strategic direction is similar to previous support for Intel’s foundry business.
