The dormant whale has ambushed both Samsung and SK Hynix earnings reports, with over 2 million positions yielding no profit.
BlockBeats news, on July 30, according to Hyperinsight monitoring, the address starting with 0x55b was basically dormant after June 26, until it resumed large transactions on the eve of the financial results of two major South Korean storage manufacturers.
On July 29, this address started to buy SKHX before the SK Hynix earnings report and continued increasing its position after the results were released, accumulating about $832,000 in purchases; on the same day, before Samsung officially announced its financial report, it bought about $509,000 of SMSN. The two positions totaled about $1.341 million, both of which clearly positioned in advance of the earnings window.
However, despite a rebound in relevant share prices following both financial reports, these long positions have not yet generated actual profits.
As of press time, this address holds about $1.247 million in long Samsung Electronics positions, with an unrealized gain of around $60,300; at the same time, it holds about $970,000 in long SK Hynix positions, with an unrealized loss of around $64,600. The two positions total about $2.217 million, with a net unrealized loss of roughly $4,300.
The earnings from the Samsung position have been essentially offset by the losses in the Hynix position. As the intraday rebound faded, the account turned back from a brief profit to a loss; currently, no visible take-profit or stop-loss orders are placed for either position.
