Latest Tesla FSD data released: Safety is 5.2 times higher than human driving
- Golden Ten Data July 30｜Tesla’s official Europe account on the X platform has released the latest FSD (supervised version) safety data. In the past four months, Tesla FSD has covered over 52 million kilometers in five EU countries, with safety performance over 5.2 times higher than manual driving. The statistics include the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium—five EU countries where FSD operation has been approved. Including the previously published 16.6 million kilometers from the Netherlands, the total sample size reaches 65 million kilometers.
- Data shows that on highways, FSD accumulated 41.9 million kilometers without any major collision accidents, demonstrating safety performance 8.5 times higher than manual driving with active safety functions enabled. In non-highway scenarios, FSD accumulated 23.8 million kilometers and recorded six collision incidents, with safety about 2.8 times higher than manual driving.
- Overall, Tesla vehicles equipped with FSD in Europe have significantly improved several safety metrics: the frequency of automatic emergency braking interventions has decreased to 1/13.4, abrupt acceleration events reduced to 1/9.2, hard braking incidents to 1/7.1, and sharp steering maneuvers to 1/7.6. These figures are consistent with previously published safety trends from North America.
- Tesla’s Q2 financial report revealed that global FSD subscription users have surpassed 1.48 million. The company is demonstrating FSD safety performance through public road testing to promote unified EU approval, aiming for broader support before the relevant European Commission vote in October.
