European Chip Stocks Climb As AI Rally Regains Strength -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/07/31 08:390834 GMT - Shares of European semiconductor companies are on the rise as investors return to stocks exposed to artificial intelligence after a few turbulent weeks. In Asia, shares of South Korean memory-chip maker SK Hynix closed nearly 30% higher, while Samsung Electronics gained 27%. In Europe, shares of Dutch semiconductor-equipment maker ASML Holding and smaller rival ASM International are up 2.8% and 6.2%, respectively. German chip maker Infineon Technologies climbs 5.8%. STMicroelectronics shares gain 3.8%. Meanwhile, the E-mini Nasdaq 100 futures contract trades 1.3% higher, pointing to a strong opening for tech stocks in the U.S. (mauro.orru@wsj.com)
