NatWest Consensus Estimates Likely to See Only Limited Changes -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/07/31 09:060906 GMT - NatWest consensus earnings expectations are unlikely to change much following first-half results, although return on tangible equity estimates will probably be nudged higher, in line with company guidance, J.P. Morgan analysts write. Results were 4% ahead on pre-provision operating profits, with net interest income in line with expectations. Other income was 8% ahead and costs were in line, tracking toward target levels. Total income guidance has been improved to around 17.9 billion pounds, with consensus broadly in line. Return on tangible equity expectations are upgraded to over 19%, versus consensus at 18.9%. The group now expects buybacks to resume with full-year results--earlier than J.P. Morgan's expectations of the first quarter of 2027 and management's earlier guidance of the first half of 2027. Shares rise 3.6%. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
