Odaily reported that Bitcoin News posted on X stating that ZEUS has temporarily taken its infrastructure offline following a cybersecurity incident in the past few hours. ZEUS stated that the attack has been mitigated, and services will remain offline until a comprehensive security audit is completed and operations are resumed.
ZEUS stated that no customer funds were lost, and currently, no customer funds are at risk. Customers whose Lightning Service Provider channels were closed will receive alternative channels once the service is restored.
According to the current investigation, ZEUS stated that the incident appears to be limited to its own infrastructure, and there is no evidence at present to suggest the incident was caused by a vulnerability in Lightning node software. ZEUS added that it has been reinforcing its infrastructure using Trusted Execution Environment and the Validating Lightning Signer project, and stated that this project is intended to help mitigate such attacks in its upcoming architecture.
ZEUS stated it will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
