Shares in Moderna ticked higher after the biotech secured Food and Drug Administration approval for its mRNA flu vaccine for use in adults aged 50 and older.
The FDA's decision capped an arduous seven-month process that included a rare refusal by the regulator to consider the shot. The agency agreed to review it after Moderna said it would conduct a follow-up trial confirming the vaccine's effectiveness among the elderly.
