Solana Breakout Targets $100: Can SOL Bulls Push Through Key Resistance?

Story Highlights
  • Solana breaks above its descending trendline as rising open interest and positive funding support the ongoing bullish price action.

  • A sustained move above $78 could push SOL toward $84 initially, with $98–$100 emerging as the larger upside target.

Solana is showing signs of a potential breakout after consolidating within a tightening symmetrical triangle for several weeks. SOL has recently climbed back above the $76 level and is now pressing against the triangle’s descending resistance line, putting the broader $98–$100 region back in focus. The setup is important because a sustained move above the pattern could mark a shift from consolidation toward a stronger recovery.

With buyers attempting to push SOL price beyond the immediate trendline resistance, the key question is whether the breakout can hold and drive it toward the $100 mark.

SOL Price Breaks Above the Decisive Triangle

SOL is trading around $76.91 and is attempting to break above the descending resistance of a multi-month symmetrical triangle. The latest move has pushed the price toward the $77–$78 area, making this the first level that needs to hold if the breakout is to develop into a sustained move. A successful move higher could bring the $84 region into focus before SOL approaches the larger $97.65–$100.11 resistance zone.

The derivatives data adds some support to the breakout attempt. Open interest has begun to rise again alongside the recent price recovery, suggesting that new positions are entering as SOL approaches the triangle’s upper boundary.

At the same time, the funding rate has turned positive, currently around 0.0084%, indicating that long positioning has gained an edge. The immediate technical hurdle remains $77–$78. A sustained breakout above this area could open the way toward $84, while a move through that resistance would strengthen the case for a larger advance toward $97.65–$100.11. On the other hand, a return below $74–$74.20, combined with falling price and rising OI, would be a warning that fresh positions are building against the breakout and could increase downside pressure.

Key Levels to Monitor

  • Resistance 1: $84.00
  • Resistance 2: $97.65
  • Resistance 3: $98.98
  • Target: $100.11
  • Support 1: $76.00–$77.00
  • Support 2: $74.02–$74.19
  • Major Support: $59.80

Can SOL Price Rise Above $100?

For the coming week, Solana (SOL) price has a realistic first upside objective around $84, representing roughly 9% upside from the current $76.91 level. If buying pressure remains strong and SOL clears that hurdle, the $90–$95 region could become the next realistic target before the token tests the major $97.65–$100.11 resistance area.

Reaching $100 would represent approximately 30% upside from current levels, but that move would likely require a sustained breakout rather than a brief spike. On the downside, a move below $74 would weaken the near-term outlook and could delay the attempt toward $100.

According to media reports, Musk has implemented a major overhaul of data center management, appointing a veteran from the rocket business as the new head. The new management team requires more comprehensive testing before data centers go online, and demands the installation of additional backup power and cooling systems, sacrificing construction speed for higher reliability. Last week, a power outage at the Memphis data center caused some Grok models to go offline and triggered a chain reaction affecting computing power rental clients such as Anthropic and Google.
