Ondo Finance taps former GFMA Executive Director Allison Parent as chief policy officer
Blockchain platform Ondo Finance is bolstering its policy work with the appointment of a career regulatory titan, Allison Parent, as the company's chief policy officer.
Parent was previously the executive director of the Global Financial Markets Association — a financial trade association representing major capital market participants. Before that, she served in top policy and direct roles at Barclays and the Bank of England, according to a statement released by Ondo Finance.
"Parent's appointment reflects the next phase of our work: industry collaboration with policymakers and regulators worldwide as tokenized assets move into the financial mainstream is integral to establishing clear, credible market standards that institutional adoption requires on a cross-border basis," the company said.
Ondo started offering tokenized U.S. Treasuries in early 2023 with the launch of OUSG, its institutional fund that gives investors exposure to short-term government debt, and now has about $2 billion in total value locked across its Treasury products, John Hoffman, Ondo Finance’s managing director and head of product portfolios, told The Block last week.
In September 2025, the company debuted Ondo Global Markets, a platform for tokenized stocks and exchange-traded funds, which Hoffman said reached $1 billion in total value locked within eight months.
This comes as regulators such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission have ramped up efforts to regulate various aspects of the crypto industry as legislation at the federal level stalls. Earlier this month, the SEC proposed a new rule that seeks to offer a pathway for investments involving digital assets that would exempt certain offerings from adhering to securities law. That did not include an anticipated innovation exemption floated earlier by SEC Chair Paul Atkins that focuses more on tokenized assets.
On the Hill
Parent's new role at Ondo Finance also comes as lawmakers in Washington have essentially stalled out in passing sweeping legislation to regulate digital assets for the first time comprehensively at the federal level.
The bill, called the Clarity Act, has hit one hurdle after another, from fights between crypto and banks on stablecoin rewards to addressing President Donald Trump's conflicts of interest. A procedural vote is scheduled for mid-September, but timing is tight as attention swiftly turns to November elections.
Parent also worked on the Dodd-Frank Act, a key federal law that sought to reform the U.S financial system following the 2008 financial crisis. She advised on that legislation as general counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget, Ondo Finance said in a statement.
"Balanced regulatory policy involves weighing growth and innovation with market integrity, consumer protection, and overall financial stability," Parent said in the statement. "Ondo Finance has the infrastructure in place and I’m excited to support unlocking the full potential of onchain markets."

Ford Publicly Hits Back at US Secretary of Transportation, US Auto Industry "Fighting to Preserve Electric Vehicles"
The U.S. Secretary of Transportation is pressuring to cut off cooperation with Chinese companies such as CATL. Ford criticized Secretary Buttigieg for "overstepping" and being "factually incorrect," citing positive statements from the White House and the Department of Commerce as evidence that Buttigieg does not represent the official government position. The core conflict lies in the fact that U.S. carmakers' transition to electrification is highly dependent on Chinese battery technology. Severing cooperation would force them back into the shrinking fuel vehicle market, putting the policy goals of manufacturing reshoring and electrification upgrades in a dilemma.
"The Most Unsexy Investment Strategy" is Timely! As Bonds Collapse and Stocks Soar, Investors Face a Great Opportunity for Rebalancing

They boosted the Yen but failed to hold U.S. Treasury bonds! Is Basent a "weak teammate" for U.S. stocks?
This week, Besant made high-profile calls to suppress yen short positions and raised the US Treasury repo limit to $6 billion. As a result, the yen strengthened, but US Treasuries declined—10-year yields hit their highest level since October 2023, and 30-year yields approached a twenty-year peak. Analysts noted that the combination of a stronger yen and rising US Treasury yields is simultaneously impacting carry trades and stock valuations, posing a dual threat to the US stock market bull run. This is described as "the greatest risk facing the bull market."
SK hynix US stocks surge to new highs, storage sector strengthens across the board! Goldman Sachs declares: The worst days are over
A Goldman Sachs research report ignited the storage sector, with SK Hynix soaring 7% on the US stock market in a single day to a record high. Micron and SanDisk also rose in tandem, outperforming the broader market. Goldman Sachs pointed out that a technical breakout in the storage sector, combined with low hedge fund positions, has shifted the "pain trade" direction upward. However, on the same day, the CEO of Kioxia poured cold water on the rally, stating bluntly that NAND "prices have risen enough." Amid this tug-of-war between bulls and bears, Micron's September 30 earnings report will be a key deciding factor.
