Asian Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Edge Lower in Friday Trading

10:40 AM EDT, 09/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Asian equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were edging lower Friday morning, declining 0.08% to 3,022.28 on the S&P Asia 50 ADR Index, which was up about 0.3% for the week so far. From North Asia, the gainers were led by semiconductor company Silicon Motion Technology (SIMO) and fintech firm J and Friends (JF), which rose 5.7% and 3% respectively. They were followed by online entertainment platform iQIYI (IQ) and semiconductor company Himax Technologies (HIMX), which were up 1.5% and 0.9% respectively. The decliners from North Asia were led by online game developer The9 (NCTY) and biopharmaceutical company Zai Lab (ZLAB), which fell 4.6% and 3.9% respectively. They were followed by real estate and digital security firm Eason Technology (DXF) and lender Shinhan Financial Group (SHG), which were down 3.1% and 2.9% respectively. From South Asia, the gainers were led by IT company Sify Technologies (SIFY) and tech conglomerate Sea (SE), which advanced 2.8% and 0.9% respectively. They were followed by lender HDFC Bank (HDB), which increased 0.2%. The decliners from South Asia were led by computer hardware maker Canaan (CAN) and IT firm Infosys (INFY), which dropped 10% and 2.5% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator PLDT (PHI) and lender ICICI Bank (IBN), which lost 1% and 0.9% respectively.
