The stocks of the companies that create your credit score are tumbling Friday after the Trump administration's housing chief said they had been "overcharging" Americans and he was further empowering a new rival.
Bill Pulte, the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, renewed a fight he'd started with the credit-scoring industry last year with some posts on X Friday. Pulte said he was giving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac the authority to accept mortgages now backed by scores from startup VantageScore.
