  1. French and German day-ahead electricity contracts saw a modest increase on Tuesday, despite both countries experiencing a weakening demand outlook. French prices were supported by sluggish wind power generation and an expanded scope of nuclear reactor shutdowns. On the German side, prices still recorded gains even as wind power output is expected to rebound sharply.
  2. The French baseload spot electricity contract rose by about 3% to approximately 153 euros per megawatt-hour. According to analysis agencies, spot prices are facing upward pressure from persistently weak wind conditions and ongoing limitations in hydropower and nuclear energy. French wind power output for the day is expected to decrease by around 0.3 GW to about 5 GW, solar power generation is expected to increase by around 0.6 GW to about 5.1 GW, while consumption is expected to fall by around 1.5 GW to approximately 44.9 GW.
  3. The availability rate of French nuclear power dropped by about 3 percentage points to approximately 77% of total availability. Nuclear power operators have issued a 24-hour strike notice starting from the night of September 1. In addition, the shutdowns of Chooz Units 1 and 2, originally due to low river water levels, have both been delayed to September 22. Unit 2 has been offline since July 10, while Unit 1 has been offline since early August.
  4. The German baseload spot electricity contract increased by about 0.6% to approximately 145.9 euros per megawatt-hour. Wind power output for the day is expected to increase by around 7.9 GW to about 26.3 GW, solar output is expected to decrease by around 3.1 GW to about 11.9 GW, and consumption remains basically stable at about 53.8 GW.
  5. On the forward curve, there were no trades for the German 2027 baseload contract or the French contract for the same period. The benchmark European carbon market contract remained steady at around 84.9 euros per ton.
