05:24 AM EDT, 09/08/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Sigma Lithium's (SGML) mining and industrial operations remain unaffected by a preliminary judicial ruling that allegedly suspends its environmental licenses, the company said Monday. The company said it has not received legal notice of the ruling, reportedly issued by courts in Teofilo Otoni, more than 300 kilometers from its operations, during a three-day judicial recess and without due process. Sigma said the ruling includes a potential daily fine that would only become payable if the allegations ultimately result in a final negative ruling following the full legal process, including appeals. The company said other elements of the ruling would also not be expected to be enforced until that process is completed. Sigma said it will begin its legal defense when the courts resume regular operations on Sept. 8. The company also disputed reports that the ruling would override its recent TAC Agreement with Minas Gerais state authorities. Sigma expects to produce 240,000 tonnes of lithium oxide concentrate over the next 12 months and 330,000 tonnes in fiscal 2027 as it advances its expansion plans, it added. Sigma Lithium shares were down 11.5% in premarket activity Tuesday.
