Ethereum L2 Scroll Plans Transition to AI-Specific Network, Estimated 9-Month Transition Period
On September 9, the Ethereum L2 Scroll team announced its latest developments in the governance forum, stating plans to gradually transform Scroll from a general-purpose public chain into a private, application-specific network centered around Compass and its AI product ecosystem, with an overall transition period expected to last approximately 9 months. Scroll indicated that the team has been applying AI in network operations and product development over the past few months and is currently building a product system consisting of Compass, Compass API, CENO, USX, and SCR. Among these, Compass provides AI models and features such as VPN and eSIM, while Compass API offers routing services for over 30 LLM models. CENO utilizes ZK technology to provide a trust layer for AI agents, including credentials, context, and privacy computation. The team mentioned that CENO currently has over 30 potential clients, with 12 undergoing proof of concept (POC) testing; Compass is still in the early consumer validation phase. In the network transition plan, SCR will migrate to the Ethereum mainnet to maintain broad accessibility and liquidity. Scroll stated that the supply and overall token economics of SCR will remain unchanged and will continue to serve as the governance token for the Scroll network. Scroll emphasized that this post is merely a progress update and not a formal proposal or vote. The team will submit a separate network transition plan for DAO review once relevant details are finalized.
