In terms of news, BlackRock, the world's largest alternative asset management firm, is further betting on Google's AI chips. Reports indicate that the number of Google tensor processing units (TPUs) BlackRock expects to procure will far exceed the scale disclosed when the joint venture with Google was announced in May this year. A person familiar with the matter said BlackRock is seeking to procure several times more units than initially planned. BlackRock declined to comment on the exact procurement numbers.
The head of Google Cloud recently stated that the scale of Google's AI accelerator chip business is already twice that of its closest competitor in cloud computing.
