Ethereum holds key support, targets $3,000 after $2,550 resistance test

Ethereum has maintained its bullish momentum as buyers continue to defend a recent breakout and test significant resistance levels. Despite a decrease in trading volume, derivatives positions remain steady, reflecting resilience among market participants as Ethereum pursues further gains.

Technical outlook and key price levels

Ethereum is currently consolidating below a critical resistance area near $2,550. Crypto analyst Satoshi Flipper identified this level as pivotal, noting that a sustained breakout above $2,550 could shift focus to the psychological barrier at $3,000.

The cryptocurrency recently advanced from a mid-summer consolidation zone around $1,560, reaching approximately $2,522. This move established a stronger market structure, placing Ethereum above its major moving averages.

The 20-day exponential moving average (EMA) stands at around $2,425. Ethereum’s ability to stay above this technical indicator is providing underlying support to its bullish trend and offering buyers a foundation for potential further gains.

Ethereum buyers remain active as the price holds above the 20-day EMA and hovers just below crucial resistance. A firm push through $2,550 could spark significant new buying and set the stage for a move to $3,000.

Failure to confirm a decisive breakout could result in renewed sideways trading. A sustained close above $2,550 remains necessary to reinforce the bullish scenario, while a breakdown below the 20-day EMA may bring the $2,200 level into focus as support.

Level Significance
$2,550 Key resistance, potential breakout point
$3,000 Psychological target if breakout confirmed
$2,425 20-day EMA, important support
$2,200 Next major support if EMA fails

Momentum indicators and trading activity

Technical indicators further support Ethereum’s current outlook. The relative strength index (RSI) on the 14-period chart reads 63.6, suggesting healthy buying pressure without entering overbought territory. The RSI’s position above 50 indicates continued bullish momentum, with room for further appreciation should buyers maintain the initiative.

However, traders are also monitoring any signs of exhaustion. A declining RSI paired with an unsuccessful breakout could point to another consolidation phase.

Derivatives market trends

According to data from Coinglass, Ethereum’s daily trading volume dropped by 66.76% to approximately $23.2 billion. Despite this sharp contraction, open interest in Ethereum derivatives remains stable at about $31.8 billion, signaling that market participants have maintained their positions even as broader activity decreased.

This divergence suggests that many traders are taking a wait-and-see approach, looking for a decisive move above resistance and higher trading volumes before committing new capital.

A breakout over the $2,550 level, reinforced by increasing volume, may provide the confirmation needed for renewed bullish momentum in Ethereum.

Ethereum’s leadership in real-world asset adoption

Fundamentally, Ethereum continues to lead the adoption of real-world assets (RWA) within the blockchain sector. Data from Token Terminal shows that Ethereum accounts for roughly $23 billion in RWA market capitalization, representing nearly half the global total of $46.4 billion in this segment.

Other blockchains have also recorded notable growth in this area. Solana’s RWA market capitalization increased by $263.3 million, while Stellar and Robinhood Chain registered gains of $150.6 million and $148.9 million, respectively.

Although this expansion in RWAs does not directly guarantee a near-term increase in the price of ETH, Ethereum’s dominant share in this market underpins its broader adoption story.

For now, attention remains focused on whether Ethereum can decisively clear the $2,550 resistance. Success could reinforce the bullish outlook with a target of $3,000, while failure may lead the cryptocurrency to test crucial support at its key moving averages.

Mini dictionary: Real-world asset (RWA), a blockchain-based representation of tangible assets such as real estate, commodities, or financial contracts, allowing on-chain trading and management.
