XRP Could Target $2 After $1.40 Breakout as ETFs Defy Bitcoin Outflows

9 m

$XRP is holding near $1.36 after a volatile week, but the more important story is developing away from the spot market.

U.S.-listed $XRP ETFs attracted $18.98 million across Sept. 8–10, while Bitcoin funds moved in the opposite direction with approximately $449.45 million of net outflows over the same three sessions. Ethereum ETFs also lost $29.76 million on Sept. 10, leaving $XRP as the major crypto ETF category still attracting capital during the selloff.

The divergence is arriving as $XRP approaches a technical level that could decide whether the August recovery continues.

$XRP trades around $1.36, up roughly 1% over 24 hours after falling as low as $1.32 on Friday.

$XRP is holding near $1.36, with $1.40 the key breakout level toward $1.58–$2.

$1.40 Is the First Hurdle Toward $2

FXStreet identifies the 200-day EMA near $1.36 as $XRP’s immediate support, while $1.40 remains the first resistance bulls need to reclaim.

Above that level, the next technical hurdle sits near $1.58. A sustained move beyond $1.58 would strengthen the recovery setup, while the broader chart places $1.70 as the next major resistance before a potential move above $2.00.

That $2 target is not immediate. $XRP would first need to recover roughly 29% to revisit $1.75 territory and then clear the resistance that capped its August rally.

The downside remains equally important. A failure to hold the current $1.36 area could expose the 50-day EMA around $1.27 and the 100-day EMA near $1.24.

$XRP ETFs Keep Attracting Capital

The technical setup is being supported by unusually persistent ETF demand.

$XRP funds took in $1.55 million on Sept. 8, $12.29 million on Sept. 9 and $5.14 million on Sept. 10, putting them on course for a ninth consecutive positive week before Friday’s final flow data.

That continues a pattern already visible in recent $XRP ETF flows, when $XRP funds were the only major crypto ETF category to post inflows as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana products all lost money.

The divergence has lasted longer than a single session. $XRP ETFs previously posted their best week of 2026, attracting $110.49 million during the week ending Aug. 28.

Whales Are Also Adding

The ETF trend is not the only accumulation signal.

Addresses holding between 100,000 and 1 million $XRP recently increased their share of supply to about 9.4%, despite the token falling below $1.40.

That creates an unusual setup: $XRP remains about 20% below its recent highs, yet institutional products and some larger wallets continue adding exposure.

For bulls, however, flows alone are not enough. $XRP still needs to convert that demand into price strength.

A decisive recovery above $1.40, followed by a break of $1.58 and $1.70, would make the $2 target considerably more credible. Until then, the institutional divergence is bullish evidence, but not yet a confirmed breakout.
