TransAlta Ordered to Keep Washington Facility Operational for Additional 90 Days

07:49 AM EDT, 09/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- TransAlta (TAC) unit TransAlta Centralia Generation has received an order from the US Department of Energy to keep Centralia Unit 2 in Washington state available for operation through Dec. 12, the company said Monday. Once in effect, the company will continue to comply with the order and to work with the department and the state government accordingly, it said.
