05:42 AM EDT, 09/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google will be questioned by India's police after finding that a criminal network used more than 500,000 fake Gmail accounts to send false bomb threats to local government offices, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing a senior Gujarat police official. Police in Gujarat, India, have arrested two individuals over the matter and broke up the email network, which includes 513,847 Gmail accounts that have been used since 2022, according to the report. Vivek Bheda, a senior cybercrime police official, told Reuters that the police will ask Google to implement certain policy changes aimed at preventing safeguards from being bypassed. Bheda said police also plan to formally designate Google as a subject of the investigation. Google did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for a comment.
