U.S. Stocks Move | Nokia (NOK.US) rises nearly 5% pre-market, expands partnership with Microsoft: integrating AI Agent into telecom networks
Nokia and Microsoft have expanded their collaboration to leverage AI platforms for automating telecom networks.
According to Jinse Finance APP, Nokia (NOK.US) announced on Thursday that it will expand its partnership with Microsoft (MSFT.US), with both parties integrating their respective telecom data and analytics platforms to support network automation in multi-vendor environments. According to Nokia's statement, this cross-vendor and cross-network domain solution will merge Nokia Data Suite with Microsoft Fabric. The initial use cases include automatic assurance for VoNR (5G New Radio voice), optimization and predictive maintenance for Radio Access Networks (RAN). The solution is already commercially available, with more autonomous network deployments to be released in the future. Following the announcement, Nokia's shares rose about 5% in premarket trading on Thursday.
Nokia Data Suite offers ready-to-use telecom data products with “glass box” style data quality control and telecom-specific semantic modeling to ensure AI decision interpretability. Microsoft Fabric provides unified data platform capabilities, including OneLake storage, analytics tools, and AI-native applications such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Foundry, and Power BI. Nokia states that, after integration, operators can obtain reliable data within minutes instead of weeks, significantly shortening the time needed to prepare network data for AI applications.
Starting with Radio Access Networks and Fault Management
After the integration, AI Agents will be able to perform automatic root cause analysis and closed-loop operations on the network, while still allowing for human oversight. The solution is designed for multi-vendor, cross-network domain environments, supporting public cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-premises deployments, making it easier for operators to advance automation while meeting various regulatory requirements. Nokia's telecom data can also be connected with enterprise, IT, and third-party data within Microsoft Fabric.
The initial rollout will focus on three scenarios: first, autonomous VoNR assurance, where AI Agents detect service issues, analyze causes, and provide recommendations for resolution; second, geo-experience analysis, using AI to locate users experiencing poor wireless performance, identify coverage and capacity hotspots, and serve both network slicing users and regular 4G/5G users; third, predictive maintenance and fault management, where Agents combine historical and real-time data to identify problems before they impact customers. In addition, the AI Operations Assistant can act as a network engineer's copilot, providing contextual insights, action recommendations, and automated workflow execution.
Vivek Jaiswal, Senior Vice President of Autonomous Networks at Nokia, stated that the two companies are helping telecom networks evolve from static infrastructure to “programmable, AI-native platforms,” delivering the right data at the right time to operators worldwide. According to ET Telecom, Silvia Candiani, Vice President of Global Telecommunications and Media at Microsoft, said operators are ready to move AI from experimentation into routine network operations, which requires reliable data, strong governance, and scalable platforms.
