Trump adviser says gasoline affordability remains the president's top concern

According to a report by Axios, Trump energy advisor Jarrod Agen stated on Tuesday that the affordability of gasoline remains "the president’s top concern." Previously, data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) showed that the national average price of gasoline on Tuesday was about $4.48, a significant increase from $3.18 a year ago. When asked if the president was responsible for Americans paying higher prices, Agen said the president’s "long-term goal is to prevent Iran" from having "nuclear capabilities," and that in the long run, it is worth it to stop them from obtaining nuclear weapons. He also remarked that the issue of gasoline remains the president’s primary focus, but attributed price decreases to tight refining capacity. "Crude oil has started flowing," he said, although it remains unclear how much crude oil is currently being shipped through the Strait of Hormuz. He continued: "There is more crude oil supply on the market, which is certainly a good thing. But refining capacity is the issue we are working to resolve, both domestically and globally. Take Russia, for example—its refining capacity has dropped by 30% to 40%."
