Lee Jae-myung says South Korea will double its semiconductor production capacity in the next five years

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Wednesday unveiled an ambitious plan aimed at doubling South Korea’s semiconductor production capacity and ensuring the artificial intelligence (AI) supply chain is protected from external shocks. He also called on the United States to increase investment in South Korea. Lee Jae-myung made these remarks at the “Korea Investment Summit” held in New York, referencing the “Three Major Super Projects” launched earlier this year by South Korea, which aim to build chip industry clusters and other AI facilities. He added that, through the expansion of chip production centers, South Korea will double its semiconductor production capacity in the next five years.
