Flare Network is setting up a perfect example of how XRP can be used beyond its original purpose. With the rising popularity of Ripple’s native coin, Flare has built the FXRP, a wrapped over-collaterized digital asset that runs on Flare Network via the FAssets v1.2.
Flare Extends XRPFi Infra With Multi-Purpose Programming
Launched exactly a year ago, this ERC-20 representation of XRP is now counting multiple milestones just one year into existence. To illustrate, the inaugural 5 million minting cap was filled in hours from the release, while FXRP garnered attention as a master key to multiple DeFi activities.
This ranges from staking, lending, cross-chain liquidity providing, borrowing, combining multiple advanced trading strategies & FXRP-powered yield programs. Since launch, Kinetic introduced lending functionality, while SparkDEX, BlazeSwap and Enosys provided liquidity markets.
A One-Year Journey Marked With These Crucial Milestones
“The thing worth taking from this year is not that XRP can be used in more places,” said Hugo Philion, the CEO of Flare. “It is that an asset issued on one chain can become working capital without leaving it, and that the path has to be short enough that people actually take it. XRP was the first asset we proved that with. It will not be the last.”
The journey throughout the year was centered around accessibility. Flare released the v1.3 in May, 2026. This upgrade allows smoother crypto exchange & custodian integrations by adding destination-tag minting. This year, Flare Network is developing the Flare Confidential Compute, a key component of the next-gen verifiable data computation with Protocol-Managed Wallets.
The fees garnered from the FAssets activities are then directed toward the Flare Income Reinvestment Entity or FIRE. With XRPFi’s capabilities now reaching an unprecedented level, things like data attestation, additional token mining and FXRP-related network activity can all boost the fees available to this cutting-edge self-sufficient decentralized finance mechanism.
