09:53 AM EDT, 09/24/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Oil prices were higher Thursday morning as unrest in the Middle East continues, with no diplomatic solution in sight. This is despite reports earlier in the week that US officials met with Iran's delegation to the United Nationals General Assembly meeting in New York. Iran's president Masoud Pezeshkian, who spoke at the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday, said Iran would not surrender, but said he believed in diplomacy to try to end the conflict, CBC reported. West Texas Intermediate November crude oil futures, the US benchmark, were last seen up 2.4% to $94.36 per barrel. November Brent oil futures, the international benchmark, were up 2.4% to $105.55a barrel. Comex gold December futures fell 0.3% to $4,306 per ounce. In agricultural commodities, December wheat futures slipped 0.6% to $7.04 per bushel, while canola futures for November rose 0.6% lower to CA$829.70 per tonne.
