CenterPoint Energy Wins $50 Million US Energy Department Grant

04:29 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- CenterPoint Energy (CNP) said Thursday that the US Department of Energy selected it for a $50 million award through the DOE's SPARK program to fund advanced substation technology upgrades. The company will install transmission grid-stabilizing equipment from Siemens Energy to respond quickly to power demand changes, the company said. The upgrades will improve system resilience during peak hours while expanding capacity to handle future regional growth, CenterPoint Energy said. Shares of the company were up 1.2% in Friday premarket activity.
