Akamai Technologies (AKAM): An $11.6 billion cloud-services deal with Anthropic sent shares in the company soaring 20% premarket.

People (PPLI): Barry Diller's company has gone from potential acquirer of MGM Resorts International (MGM) to a possible target for the casino operator, The Wall Street Journal reported. Shares in People climbed premarket.

Nanexa (SE:NANEXA): Ozempic maker Novo Nordisk agreed to pay up to $1.3 billion to license and develop the Swedish pharmaceutical company's drug-delivery technology, which could help cut the frequency with which patients need to inject obesity and diabetes drugs. Shares of Nanexa surged more than doubled.

Costco Wholesale (COST): The company reported a higher profit and rising sales in its fiscal fourth quarter, citing continued spending from consumers undeterred by sticky inflation. Shares ticked lower premarket.

OpenAI CEO Altman stated that the IPO may only be considered after the company gains a clearer understanding of how to safely manage the "next-level AI." The delay in launching GPT-6.1 Astra is because the model did not meet some of the company’s evaluation criteria for safety; this decision was made "out of an abundance of caution" rather than due to any major incident. He also noted that Nvidia’s safety systems for AI are not a "complete solution;" AI is more of a scientific problem than an engineering one.
