Intesa Sanpaolo exec urges Savings and Investments Union at AmCham Slovenia risk conference

- Papanicolaou flagged Europe’s need to shift about EUR 10 trillion of household deposits into productive investment to lift competitiveness.
- She cited the Draghi Report’s estimated funding gap of at least EUR 750-800 billion a year for additional investment.
- Papanicolaou backed the Savings and Investments Union, calling for stronger capital markets alongside bank lending rather than an either-or model.
- She said Intesa targets over 20% middle- and back-office productivity gains by the end of its 2026-2029 business plan, driven by AI.
