US Dollar Falls Early Friday Ahead of Durable Goods Orders, Michigan Sentiment

07:41 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The US dollar fell against its major trading partners early Friday, except for a gain versus the Canadian dollar, ahead of durable goods orders data for August at 8:30 am ET, followed by the final University of Michigan consumer sentiment reading for September at 10:00 am ET. The Kansas City Federal Reserve's services reading for September is due to be released at 11:00 am ET, followed by updates to the St. Louis and Atlanta Fed's GDP nowcast estimates for Q3 around midday. Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid is due to speak at 9:20 am ET. A quick summary of foreign exchange activity heading into Friday: EUR/USD rose to 1.1409 from 1.1375 at the Thursday US close and 1.1373 at the same time Thursday morning. Eurozone money supply growth accelerated, according to data released earlier Friday. The next European Central Bank meeting is scheduled for Oct. 29. GBP/USD rose to 1.3256 from 1.3217 at the Thursday US close and 1.3226 at the same time Thursday morning. There are no UK data on Friday's schedule, but Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey said earlier in the day that high energy prices would require the BOE to raise interest rates. The next Bank of England meeting is scheduled for Nov. 5. USD/JPY fell to 157.6532 from 158.8972 at the Thursday US close and 158.8502 at the same time Thursday morning. There were no Japanese data released overnight. The next Bank of Japan meeting is scheduled for Oct. 30. USD/CAD rose to 1.4140 from 1.4138 at the Thursday US close and 1.4114 at the same time Thursday morning. Canadian wholesale sales data for August are due to be released at 8:30 am ET, followed by the Canadian budget balance at 11:00 am ET. The next Bank of Canada meeting is scheduled for Oct. 28.
