US Equity Futures Higher Pre-Bell as Treasury Yields Continue to Rise, Oil Prices Decline

07:53 AM EDT, 09/25/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were edging higher pre-bell Friday as traders observed Treasury yields continuing to rise and oil prices Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 0.4% higher, S&P 500 futures were up 0.4%, and Nasdaq futures were 0.7% higher. The benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield reached 5.22%, its highest level since 2007. The 30-year Treasury yield also climbed to 5.5%. Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has proposed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume negotiations with the US within seven days as long as the US accepts its conditions, which are what was in the June ceasefire agreement that was signed by both sides, CNBC reported, citing Iranian state media. Oil prices were lower, with front-month global benchmark North Sea Brent crude down 1.7% at $104.78 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude 2.4% lower at $92.35 per barrel. The August durable goods orders report, slated for 8:30 am ET, is expected to show a 0.3% decrease, compared with a 1.1% increase in the prior month, according to estimates compiled by Bloomberg. The final University of Michigan consumer sentiment report for September, scheduled at 10 am ET, is expected to show consumer sentiment index coming in at 47.5, down from 47.8 in the prior period. Federal Reserve Cleveland President Beth Hammack, New York President John Williams, and Kansas City President Jeffrey Schmid are slated to speak on Friday.
